Shared Management Program

Ignite Community Network values the input of individuals and families in the planning, implementation and evaluation of their supports and services. Ignite Community Network will implement a Shared Management program to assist people with a disability and their families to self-direct their supports and services. The individual and their family will lead the planning, implementation and evaluation of their supports and services with ongoing support from Ignite.

The Shared Management program will be overseen by the Shared Management Coordinator. The Shared Management Coordinator will work with the individual and their family to define the roles and responsibilities that will be carried out by the individual and/or their family and the roles and responsibilities that will be carried out by the Shared Management Coordinator.

When considering whether self-directed supports is right for you it is important to define the following roles and responsibilities:

  • What, how, when and where supports are provided
  • Who will recruit staff
  • Payment of wages
  • Acquittance and management of timesheets
  • Conducting relevant checks e.g. Working with children and National Police checks
  • Tracking expenditure
  • Reporting known risks and behaviours
  • Administration of medication
  • Achievement of goals

Shared Management Continuum

Self-directed supports (through the implementation of our shared management program) is a partnership between you and us. We will support you to have as much or as minimal control over the responsibilities associated with self-directed supports. We will support you to develop your skills and confidence to manage supports and services your way.
